Isla Mujeres is located in the Caribbean Sea, near the Yucatan peninsula, southeast of Mexico. The island is part of one of the ten municipalities of the State of Quintana Roo and is located thirteen kilometers from the city of Cancun, the main tourist hub of the region. Isla Mujeres is a quaint and charming island, located across the bay from Cancun. His warm and clear waters are the perfect home for dolphins and turtles and swim with them is one of the most attractive activities. This is a place with history and spectacular beaches. On the southern tip of the island there are traces of a Mayan temple. The island became world famous in the 70s, when the Cave of the Sleeping Sharks was presented to the world by the famous Mexican oceanographer Ramón Bravo. The island is also known for its beautiful underwater landscapes, excellent sites for snorkeling and diving, and the rich biodiversity offered. Another interesting attraction of the island is the park and beach club "El Garrafon" where you can snorkel, snuba, sea trek, kayak among others. A little later in this park there is a small area dedicated to Ixchel Arquelogica.
