Fatehpur Sikri: Admire the beautiful red sandstone palaces of the abandoned city

Agra: Behold the love poem written in stone that is the Taj Mahal and explore the city’s imposing Red Fort

Day 1: ARRIVAL DELHI

Welcome to Delhi, the capital city of India! Meet and greet our tour representative, who will assist you with the transfer to your hotel.  Learn about the fascinating medieval history of northern India in this city that has undergone massive changes in the last few decades. In this land, fabled to have seen seven cities over the millennia, signs of the old are continuously jostling with the new, presenting a fascinating and ever-changing panorama. After check-in at your hotel, in the afternoon, visit the beautiful historical Jama Masjid, commonly known as the Friday Mosque. At the end of the day, we suggest a rickshaw ride through the narrow streets of Old Delhi, before returning to the hotel

Overnight in Delhi.

Day 2: DELHI – JAIPUR (260 km – 6 hrs)

After breakfast, set out to explore New Delhi. Drive past the India Gate (a war memorial dedicated to the lost lives of Indian soldiers), the President's Residence (formerly the Viceroy's Palace), the Parliament House and the Secretariat Buildings, which interestingly combines Victorian and 20th-century architecture. Later proceed to Jaipur and en-route visit Qutab Minar, one of the ancient archaeological sites of Delhi, gracefully hand-carved and 234ft tall. It's Iron Pillar has withstood the ravages of time and hasn’t even so much as rusted after 1500 years. Once in Jaipur, check-in at the hotel on arrival. This city, known as the Pink City, is the capital of Rajasthan and boasts broad avenues, ancient forts and magnificent royal palaces where Maharajas once lived, all built with a blushing pink stone. Spend the rest of the day at leisure and overnight at the hotel.

Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 3: JAIPUR

Set out in the morning after breakfast, on an excursion to Amer Fort, one of the most beautiful constructions in Rajasthan and a shining example of local architecture. It contains a beautiful Sheesh Mahal, a room in which all four walls and the ceiling are completely embedded with glittering mirror pieces specially imported from Belgium. On the way to Amber Fort, stop at Hawa Mahal to snap some pictures of this stunning ‘Palace of Winds’. In the afternoon, visit the Maharaja's City Palace, the former Royal Residence, part of which has been converted into a museum. A private portion of it is still used by the Royal Family of Jaipur. Following that, visit Jantar Mantar, the world-famous observatory made of stone and marble, still in working condition and finish the day at your hotel in Jaipur.

Overnight in Jaipur.

Day 4: JAIPUR – FATEHPUR SIKRI – AGRA (240 km – 5 hrs)

In the morning, after breakfast drive to the spellbinding city of Agra, stopping to visit Fatehpur Sikri along the way. Fatehpur Sikri is a deserted capital city built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 AD. It was abandoned 15 years later due to a severe water shortage. Today, it is listed as a World Heritage Monument. After this short visit, continue to Agra and check-in at the hotel on arrival. Agra is one of the most visited cities in India, and most of its visitors come for one thing: the Taj Mahal, which you will visit in the afternoon. Its white non-porous marble is a witness to the true love of emperor Shah Jehan for his beloved Mumtaz Mahal, enshrining in the edifice her mortal remains. For that reason, it is often referred to as a ‘Love Poem in Marble' (closed on Fridays). Your day ends with your return to your selected accommodation in Agra.

Overnight in Agra.

Day 5: AGRA – DELHI (220 km – 4 hrs)

Enjoy a morning visit to the Agra Fort after breakfast, a breath-taking building made with red sandstone and the same marble used to construct the Taj Mahal, a special kind of marble brought from Makrana. The lofty battlements of the Agra Fort cast a protective shadow over the many mansions of nobles and princes built along the riverfront. In the afternoon, drive back to Delhi, and check in to your hotel.

Overnight in Delhi.

Day 6: DEPARTURE DELHI

After breakfast in the hotel, hop onto your transfer to the international airport of Delhi, where you’ll catch your flight to your next destination.

Comfortable and light clothing is the most suitable for travelling in India. Visitors should not wear sleeveless shirts, shorts, short skirts or skimpy clothing when visiting temples, religious or official buildings. Shoes should be removed before entering a temple or private house. Sun protection, sunglasses, a hat and mosquito repellent can be very useful during your stay.
